Breakfast on the go? Try this energy boosting smoothie. It only takes 5 minutes to prepare and another 5 minutes to drink!
Leaving the house without breakfast isn’t good, so this is better than nothing and will pack in some essential vitamins and minerals to keep you going.
I am mindful about how much fruit I put into raw juices and smoothies, as the fructose spikes your blood sugar level too high, which is not good! You will feel that quick dip an hour or so later as your blood sugar levels dip low. So when using fruit go for low sugar fruit such as berries and as a rule use more vegetables when juicing.
I always make sure my smoothies have a balance of protein, essential fats and “good” carbs in it. Sticking to this rule when eating any snack, meal or smoothie will ensure you have a balance of all food groups essential for keeping blood sugar levels even which keep you going for longer. I adopt this food rule with all meals and snacks… Protein, essential fats and good carbs. Simple!

All you need…
1/2 cup frozen blueberries
1/2 cup blackberries
1/2 frozen medium banana
1 cup Almond or coconut Milk
Spoonful of coconut oil
1 cup baby spinach
The raw juice of a broccoli stem
1 teaspoon chia seeds for topping

Blueberries and Blackberries are a great source of vitamin C to help boost your immune system. Get those antioxidants in and your skin will glow.

Banana. Good for carbs and will help to thicken up the smoothie.

Spinach This is where the POWER comes in, full of vitamins and nutrients, and includes great fiber, calcium. Blend away – you won’t notice the taste at all!

Coconut oil. Amazing source of essential fatty acids, for brain and body replenishing.

Almond Milk packed with calcium, vitamin D, creamy and delicious; I’m a huge fan. Coconut milk is also to die for, too! Either will work in this smoothie.

A sprinkle of Chia seeds for omega-3s, fiber and protein. sprinkle them on or better yet, blend them into the smoothie!

Juice the broccoli stem and add this to all the other ingredients, blend together. Enjoy!
