Sonic massage for your unborn Baby

 In Pregnancy

Hi gorgeous mamas to be đź’ś
I’ll be infusing pregnancy yoga classes with more of our beautiful chanting, or vocal sound Vibrations for you and  for your baby! Like a sound wave massage.

So, what is Sonic Massage? Its all about “sound vibrations” and it has some truly amazing benifits too…
As unborn babies can hear  sounds and their mother’s voice from the womb at around 24 weeks, they can also recognise music being played and it’s said that they are able to remember pre-natal music once they are born.
— Sonic massage comes from sound, it’s the sounds that reverberates into the womb ( sound waves ) that literally give your baby a massage…wow, how amazing to be able to soothe, comfort and stimulate your baby from outside the womb!

So how can you do this?
For those of you who attend my pregnancy yoga practice you will be familiar with chanting (a yoga practice technique)… Chanting is a form of meditation in order to completely relax and switch off the mind and relax.
Making the chanting sounds with “MMM” or “OMMM” sounds or humming sounds with the bhramari breath  creates that vibrational energy.
Your unborn baby will hear your voice feel the vibration and if practiced often enough your baby will also be able to remember the chanting or humming sound/pattern which when used after birth will come to soothe and relax  your baby from crying when distressed… because vibrational energy soothes the nervous system-leaving you both calm.

This technique is particularly helpful when your baby is upset and you have tried everything to calm him down but nothing has worked! which can often leave you feeling anxious and upset too,  so try this technique as you hold your baby in your arms, carry him or wear him in a sling, gently start the chanting or humming sounds into your baby’s ear, whilst swaying or rhythmically rocking…
your baby should be settled in no time, as all the containment, gentle rhythmical movement and vibration brings him back to a womb like sensation and a sense of comfort he remembers well. This consistent comfort will regulate your baby’s emotions and support his emotional development and positive attachment.

The chanting technique is also a wonderful way to develop confidence with vocal expression. As you open your throat chakra and make unusual sounds you may feel embarrassed at first, however it will bring you confidence, eliminate fear and enable you to express your self, particularly as you will need to use your voice with breath work to release pain or discomfort in the body during the labour and birth of your baby.

Sound vibration is wonderful practice in pregnancy, birth and beyond.
So start practicing… connect with your unborn baby by meditating with Sonic Massage. It’s a beautiful way to be present.

Much love

Namaste x
Tina
