Yoga Mudra

 In Yoga

Hey beautiful yogis,

I thought I’d share with you more on getting to know your hands and the ancient art of yoga
mudras.., also known as Yoga of the hands.

I love incorporating mudras into my sequences and practices and here’s why.,,

These hand gestures not only look beautiful, but they help channel the flow of energy through the body. Mudras also help in balancing the five elements inside the body (Fire,Water,Air,Earth and Space).
Yoga mudra and the five vital elements of the body have a close relationship. Mudras balance these five vital elements of the body.
The thumb represents fire, the index finger represents air, the middle finger represents ether, the ring finger represents earth, and the little finger represents water.

The meaning ‘mudra’, is a Sanskrit word, meaning ‘closure’ or ‘seal’…
these hand positions are physical gestures that activate energy flow in the body.
There are various Mudras which all have different Benifits for healing… great for when you want to enhance your meditation practice and feel even more energised.

The most common of all is the Anjali Mudra, where the hands are kept at the centre of the heart. you may be most familiar with this one as we use it also for namaste — A sealing of a prayer, May the light in me see the light in you.

Through weekly yoga practices we connect to different mudras and if you haven’t yet tried a class with me or would like to experience them more regularly join me for this weeks practices where we explore a journey through the mudras, the benefits and meanings they hold .

My favourite is lotus flower mudra, which we will be holding in lunge postures.

let me know which one becomes your favourite

love and Light
